None of us can do anything great on our own, but we can all do a small thing with great love. – Mother Teresa

When Mother Teresa was once asked, “How could you accomplish such great tasks in your life?” She answered what is quoted above. How true this is! We hardly think of this simple point in the course of our lifetime.

Let’s try to understand it in depth. In our lifetime, when we run behind things that have materialistic value, we tend to lose a lot that has more value on emotional level. Our endeavour to achieve great heights is most of the times for our own selves. It will benefit only us as an individual. In that race, we might be hurting someone, we might be speaking a lie for our benefit, and we might be doing some kind of fraud on smaller or larger extent. Hence, it becomes a selfish task. Even if we succeed in this task, we won’t feel that content or the peace from within.

On the other hand, if we give more importance to those “so-called” small things in life, we are bound to benefit not only ourselves but even those people who are related to us. Mother Teresa never wished for anything that belongs to the material world. Achieving those great heights and becoming famous was never her aim. Her aim in life was to live for the betterment of the society, for the upliftment of the poor and the needy. She considered these values as more important than craving for fame. She did this with great love and that is the reason that she was able to accomplish such great tasks.

Reaching a high post or authority and gaining fame needs hard work and it does depend on a number of other factors. There is no guarantee that with that entire hard work one will ever gain that level of success. But, if we start giving importance to the small moments in life and start living them to the fullest for the betterment of all, then we are bound to succeed.

We might be doing something that is considered small, but if we do it with love we are not only benefitting ourselves but even others. I had spoken about the Importance of Unconditional Love in one of my articles. When we do things with such unconditional love, we start expecting less and let ourselves get engross in that feeling of love. With that we free our self from all the burdens in life. If we actually reach those great heights with that love, then we do not get carried away with it, and if we do not gain that success then too we feel content.

Such is the beauty of Love, doing things with that Love, and getting immersed in that love. So whatever we might be doing in our life, what is more important is to respect it, love it, and do it in such a way that everyone is benefitted. That selfishness must be totally eliminated from that work. And when we do that,
